Dr. Barnes Dr. Susan Orwick-Barnes was born in Ohio and lived in various states until her family settled in Memphis, TN. She graduated from high school in Germantown. Dr. Barnes completed her Undergraduate work at the University of Tennessee at Martin and received her Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS) degree in 1981 from the University of Tennessee Medical Center in Memphis.

After graduation, Dr. Barnes and her husband moved to New York State. She was in private practice in the small town of Warwick, NY for eleven years.

In 1996, Dr. Barnes and her family returned to Tennessee and she acquired her current practice in Knoxville. She enjoys all phases of dentistry, especially esthetic procedures such as whitening, bonding, veneers, and crowns. Dr. Barnes loves to see your smile!

Dr. Barnes enjoys a practice that caters to patients of all ages. She welcomes children and adults into her practice.

Dr. Barnes is a member of the Academy of General Dentistry, American Dental Association, Tennessee Dental Association, Southeastern Academy of Prosthodontics, Pierre Fauchard Academy, International College of Dentists, American College of Dentists, and East Tennessee Academy of Practice Management. She is also a member of the Farragut-West Knoxville Chamber of Commerce.

At the Tennessee Dental Association meeting in May, 2009, Dr. Barnes was presented with the Fellowship Award. The award honors dentists for the contributions they have made to the TDA and the Second District Dental Society.

Dr. Barnes has been continually involved in organized dentistry. She is the current Trustee for the Second District Dental Society to the Tennessee Dental Association Board of Trustees. Dr. Barnes also serves as the Second District Delegate to the Amercian Dental Association. She has served as President in her local dental district as well.

Dr. Barnes is married and has two daughters, JoBeth and Dani. JoBeth is married to her nice husband, Will. JoBeth is a Nurse Practitioner and serves as the Oncology Educator at Children's Hospital. Dani is now Dani Barnes, DDS. She is a Public Health Dentist for the Cherokee Health Systems. Dr. Barnes' husband, Booder, is an artist and a carpenter.

Dr. Barnes is an avid gardener and she loves to cook.
